Ask The PTO

Send your question via email to Tara Masterson and the answers will be posted here!

Answers to recent questions:

  • Where can I find information on the Lost and Found?
    • The lost and found is managed by Mrs. DiTommaso. She will create a list one time per month of what has been found and post photos so you can browse the list if you are missing an item. Items labeled will be returned to the student once found. She can be reached at stslostandfound@stsashburn.com
  • There have been a lot of charity donation requests this school year. Is this normal?
    • At St. Theresa School we do a lot of great community and charity work, but we do not expect you to participate in every event if you cannot.
  • What is a Spirit Wear Day? Where can I find spirit wear?
    • A spirt wear dress out day is a day designated by the school for your student to dress out of uniform in St. Theresa spirit wear attire. Spirit wear can be purchased from the PTO (we have youth xl left in the performance wear) or ordered from the spirit wear store. The link for the store is https://ssastores.com/store/st-theresa-school-ashburn-va  A student may also wear their PE uniform shirts on a spirit wear day.
  • What is Skate Night?
    • Two times during the school year the Ashburn Ice House hosts a Spirit Night for our school. One ice rink is reserved for St. Theresa Students for 1 hour. Our next Skate Night will be held in the spring! Be on the lookout for announcements.
  • What is Catholic Schools Week?
    • Catholic Schools week is the annual celebration of Catholic Education in the United States. Both students and teachers look forward to the week at St. Theresa. There are many activities, assemblies, and fun dress out days during the week.

Room Parent

    • A room parent’s main task is to facilitate communication between other parents and the teacher, the school PTO, and occasionally school administration. This can vary widely from class to class, teacher to teacher. For the most part, as a room parent you’ll solicit donations (paper goods, snacks, decorations, etc.) from parents for classroom parties and events, collect money for teacher gifts during holidays and Teacher Appreciation Week , organize volunteers for the classroom for events or enrichment, and other tasks as decided by the teacher. As well, some room parents act as liaisons for their school’s PTO, attending parent group meetings and, potentially, helping generate support or interest in parent group efforts. (For example, room parents can help the PTO promote an event by reminding their parents of an upcoming program or fundraiser.)
